5k/AIDS Walk Lenape 2016
One young girl's initiative to help families with HIV/AIDS
Brenna, the daughter of one of the advisors to the AIDS Awareness Committee at Lenape H.S. was on a mission. She asked her Mom if she and her cousins could sell water at the Promenade down the shore area to raise money for Spirit of the Holidays. And so, I received this note with $53 attached:
This past Memorial Day weekend, my cousins and I had a water sale down at the shore where we sold water on the promenade to bikers and walkers passing by. We decided we would give the money to Spirit of the Holidays because we know that every dollar counts. We had a big sign that said "Help support Spirit of the Holidays". And for being there for 2 hours, selling the bottles at $1 each, we raised $53. We want to thank you for leading a program like this out of the kindness of your heart.
So what do I do with that? How do I respond to such initiative and such kindness? I simply say, "thank you" to the wonderful young people such as Brenna and her cousins, who could have spent the day sitting on the beach, but decided instead to make a difference in the lives of people who are suffering every day! In a day and age when everyone seems to be negative about the world in which we live, I believe the next generation will have so much to offer!!! You are an inspiration, Brenna! Job well done! Thank you, from the Board Members at Spirit of the Holidays!
