So, what’s the difference between regular brownies and blonde brownies? Blondes use brown sugar instead of cocoa, giving the brownies a more butterscotch flavor. These kind of brownies started to become popular in the 1940’s and 1950’s when it became an alternative to the usual chocolate. These kinds of brownies can have more options in regards to flavor, such as vanilla, butterscotch, coconut, nuts, toffee, or any other kind of candy flavor to help heighten the flavor of the brown sugar.
