By holding on to the negative emotions that come from the past, it can greatly affect the way you for adult relationships in the future and affect the way you interact with the world and yourself.

Anger and resentment that comes from the past is expendable energy that can never be returned, and holding on to negative emotions can greatly deplete the quality of life you can have.

Forgiving your parents doesn’t happen overnight; it takes time and effort in doing so if you desire to heal wounds and form meaningful relationships again with your parents.

Forgive Mom & Dad Day is about the process of healing because to begin requires a level of emotional vulnerability that many people have a hard time doing.

In these cases, emotional responsibility is what truly makes forgiveness viable, because by taking responsibility for the emotions you experience, you can have a higher understanding of the responsibility your parents have while still being able to forgive them and heal your wounds.

Take the time to process the pain your feeling, because by understanding that although the past can’t be erased, you can still move forward with your life by not dwelling on the past, recognizing the patterns in yourself, and recognizing the humanity in every person out there.
