Tom Brady's Birthday timeline

2017

Brady earned the wins record

Already holding the record for most postseason wins, Tom Brady overtook Peyton Manning to snag the regular-season win record, as well.

2016

DeflateGate

An investigative body concluded that Brady had knowledge of the "DeflateGate" scandal, in which footballs were systematically deflated to the Patriots' advantage. As a result, he had to miss the first four games of the 2016 season.

February 3. 2002

Brady's First Super Bowl

Two years after joining the Patriots, Brady won his first Super Bowl as well as the Super Bowl MVP (his first of four). The Patriots beat the Rams 20-17.

January 10, 1982

Brady witnessed "The Catch"

During the 1981 NFC Championship Game, San Francisco 49ers quarterback (and Brady idol) Joe Montana completed a six-yard touchdown pass to Dwight Clark to secure a win in the final seconds of the game. It is one of the most memorable catches in football history. A four-year-old Brady saw it in person.

5 Records Tom Brady Hasn't Broken (Yet)

  1. Regular-season passing yards

Brady has the total passing yards record locked in, but his many postseason games have helped with that. As far as regular-season passing yards go, he's in fourth place, with the Saints' Drew Brees holding the record at over 73,580. Tom is not likely to play enough additional seasons to break that record.

  2. Most MVPs

Peyton Manning has five MVPs to Brady's three. It's not likely that Brady will overtake him even if he plays several more seasons.

  3. Most games started

Brett Favre holds the record for most games started at 298. Brady could break this one, but only if he keeps playing for a couple more seasons and hardly misses any games.

  4. Most Pro Bowls

Brady's played in 13 Pro Bowls. Peyton Manning, Tony Gonzalez, Merlin Olsena nd Bruce Matthews all have 14. This one's within reach if he stays on a couple more seasons.

  5. Most regular-season passing touchdowns

Brady's well over 500 and on his way to approaching Manning's 539.

How to Celebrate Tom Brady's Birthday

  1. Throw the football around

Brady got his start playing pickup football games in his native San Mateo, California. Get out the pigskin and try to replicate some of his famous passing plays.

  2. Watch Brady's TV guest spots

Brady's good looks and TV-ready charisma have led to guest appearances on a number of shows. Watch some of his spots on shows such as "SNL" and "Family Guy."

  3. Get a ridiculously large cake

In 2018, for his 41st birthday, the Patriots gave Brady a gigantic birthday cake that weighed over 1,200 pounds, including 250 pounds of frosting. You don't have to get quite that huge with it, but getting (or baking) a large cake for yourself and your family will put you in the spirit.

Why We Love Tom Brady's Birthday

  1. We can bask in Tom Brady-ness for one full day

Today, you are allowed to watch as much footage of Tom Brady as your little heart desires. Bring your crew, drink some brews and game on!

  2. Tom Brady patiently waits until he gets what he wants

From 1998-1999, Brady took his time and went from seventh on the depth chart to be the starting quarterback for Michigan, eventually going 20-5. In the 2000 NFL Draft, who else would have had the patience to overcome the humiliation of becoming the sixth quarterback chosen with the 199th pick by New England? Not many. Let's just say for Tom Brady, looking good is the best revenge!

  3. For Tom Brady, age is just a number

At age 41, a time when many athletes are considering their retirement choices, Tom Brady keeps getting better and better. He's playing top-notch football and his passing game is the best in the country.
