National Kazoo Day - Tuesday, January 28, 2025

Fun Children Music

If you haven’t used a kazoo since elementary school (or if you’ve never used one at all), then get ready to play! After all, National Kazoo Day’s here. It all began when Joyful Noise Kazoo Band member Chaplin Willard Rahn founded the day in 1983. National Kazoo Day is meant to celebrate all the ways that playing (and listening) to the kazoo bring happiness to people of all ages. So on January 28, celebrate by listening to kazoo bands or by playing your own.

3 Reasons To Go Kazoo Crazy

  1. Kazoo Museum

This Beaufort, South Carolina, attraction has one of the largest collection of kazoos available to the public.

  2. Kazoos have been used in music recordings

The members of the Original Dixieland Jazz Band used kazoos in their song “Crazy Blues."

  3. This entertainer loves using kazoos

Family entertainer/kazoo whiz Rick Hubbard once turned an audience of 30,000 into a giant kazoo band!

National Kazoo Day Activities

  1. Do a DIY Kazoo

If you have kids, they’re sure to love this. Plus, it’s easy and affordable. All you need is a cardboard tube, wax paper, rubber bands, and scissors.

  2. Play your favorite songs

On National Kazoo Day make it a priority to get your mouth on a kazoo and hum your favorite songs. Want to get others involved? Bring kazoos to work and let coworkers experience the joy of playing.

  3. Do kazoo karaoke

Supply your friends with kazoos, a microphone, and a stage (plus a glass of wine, preferably), and have a fun, memorable night.

Why We Love National Kazoo Day

  1. It makes us nostalgic

Kazoos bring back memories of learning to play our first musical instrument. National Kazoo Day helps us remember when something this simple brought us a lot of joy.

  2. It celebrates a fun musical instrument

Kazoos are fun; they’re small, simple, and easy to play. Still, you most likely haven’t tried one since you were a kid.

  3. It helps us feel like a talented musician

All you need to do is hum a tune and let the kazoo do the rest.
