History of Join Hands Day
Join Hands Day was founded by America’s Fraternal Benefit Societies in 2000, in partnership with Points of Light Foundation.
It was intended to be a way to bring today’s youth and older generations together. Fraternities first developed in ancient Greece and Rome, which offered financial aid to members in time of sickness and death.
The Guilds of England formed a prototype of fraternal benefits, with many tracing their roots back to the Civil War. It is believed that the origins of the modern American fraternal benefits system occurred in 1868.
The Ancient Order of United Workmen formed in Pennsylvania in this year. It attracted many members and thus became an important part of society for those in need.
Today run by Assured Life Association, Join Hands Day has since been successful at bringing fraternal communities together with today’s youth. Assured Life Association offers life insurance, annuities, Medicare supplement insurance.
It also takes part in school scholarships, volunteering, and charities. Join Hands Day is just one of the many holidays that Assured Life Association takes part in each year.
They focus their efforts on helping organize volunteer events and other life activities. These include cleaning up the streets, crafting gifts for others, and much more. Join Hands Day is all about spending time with generations old and new in hopes of forming everlasting relationships and progressive change.

Communities on this day join together to help one another, whether it be through charity work or volunteering.
