There’s a moment in everyone’s life when they know that the days ahead of them will never be the same. That moment is when their first child is born, while there are those who have sworn themselves to a life without children of their own (and more power to them) those who choose to have a child feel that the birth of their first is the most important day of their lives. Baby Day celebrates these little bundles of joy and all the wonders that come with them, and maybe a few of the trials.
History of Baby Day
Baby Day was established to celebrate the smallest members of our species, and the wonders and joys they face as they grow up. Growing up isn’t always easy, and that’s why these wee travelers have parents to help them traverse the challenging road ahead. Children come in all shapes and sizes and represent a new beginning and a wonderful innocence in the world, and we can learn as much from them as they can learn from us. After all, while they come into the world free of knowledge, they also come into the world free from preconceptions, cynicisms, and prejudice. Would that we could all be so unburdened.
Whether you choose to have one child or many, becoming a parent is not an adventure for the faint of heart. Every day will see you having your preconceptions challenged, and your ideas about the world questioned with the never ending series of ‘why’s’ they’ll bring. Further, a sense of selflessness tends to come to those who have children, as everything in their lives begins to focus on these little humans.
Baby Day was also established to educate the younger generation. Your older children may have little brothers and sisters on the way and, one day the responsibility for babysitting will fall in their lap. So this event should be used by parents to educate their older children about what it takes to take care of a helpless fragile baby. Teach them how to read the baby’s body language and listen to verbal calls to better understand what their needs are.
How to celebrate Baby Day
Celebrating Baby Day is fun, easy, and eye-opening. Take your day to visit those friends of yours that have children, or if you’re planning on having one of your own (Or already have… Or are pregnant) then take the time to learn more about the most recent parenting techniques. If you’re visiting a friends child, bring them some of the newest educational toys, or you can honor the age-old tradition of bringing toys that make noise to children that are not your own. Or, if you’re feeling kinder, maybe enjoy the day by spending it with those children and giving their hard-working parents a day off. Baby Day reminds you that babies are wonderful, but they’re also a lot of work.
Social media is the perfect place for you to share a personal story, in which you felt connected to or had your heart melt by a baby. It could be your newborn cousin, a baby brother or perhaps your own child. Write a post or make a 1-minute recording of yourself, expressing when you first felt a baby squeeze your finger when you felt a great deal of responsibility for a baby or perhaps when you saw a baby do something cute for the first time. Baby Day is dedicated to loving humanity and procreation, so share something hopeful. Record a video directly addressing a baby in your life, in the hopes that they will see the video when they’re older. Speak to them as if they are old enough to understand and tell them a bit about their early days, weeks or months on planet earth.
Are you planning to have a baby soon? Maybe you’re already pregnant and have been expecting. To devote this day to your unborn child, learn about the most modern parenting techniques. This way, when your baby enters the world and lays eyes on his or her parents, they will be met with caring, dedicated and nurturing parents that will give them the best start in life. Curl up on the sofa and read a few articles on parenting in the contemporary world.
Donating baby clothes to poorer families through charities is going to melt someone’s heart one day. Not all parents are lucky enough to be financially secure when having their children. A hundred dollars worth of baby clothes will supply multiple families with comfortable items to wear for their newborn sparkle.
Going the extra mile
All babies are beautiful but not every baby is given the best start in life. To celebrate this wonderful event, bring attention to a local baby adoption center. There are so many couples and families that would like to know more about this option. Some couples cannot conceive due to some biological preventions while some families would like to have more children but not go through the pregnancy stages all over again. Get into contact with the adoption center and ask if you could print off some of their pamphlets to post into people’s homes.
You could also bring attention to national baby adoption by using the relevant hashtags and linking certified information in your posts. If you know someone who is interested, direct them to official websites like American Adoptions and link them to the Government information pages for such things as intercountry adoption.
