Love People & Relationships

Proposals can be scary, but so can proposing on Valentine’s Day, because that time can be the time of all lovers celebrating their years together and making the choice to make their years longer.

So, Proposal Day is here to save you from the pressure of an immediate marriage by giving you a second chance at getting down on that knee.

History of Proposal Day

Proposal Day was founded by John Michael O’Loughlin, who initially created the holiday after his cousin waited for years for her boyfriend to propose having to move on with her life. O’Loughlin designed this holiday to remind people of the possibility of proposing before life passes by and it’s too late.

This holiday takes place on the vernal equinox, the day when the stars and planets align to make life-changing events happen, such as a proposal. Spring brings about the time for new beginnings and proposing to the people you love.

This day is also a chance to think about your proposal, think about how life-changing a proposal can be, and its a day to find the confidence to take chances and be with the people you love for the long-haul.

It is estimated that 50,000 couples get engaged on this day of days. However, Proposal Day isn’t just about making that big move; it’s also about finding solace in rejecting, understanding that there isn’t just one true love out there, and that life has its way of letting you know that even through those painful moments of heartbreak, you’re on the right path.

It is also the time to talk with your partners about whether or not either of you wants marriage and whether or not your lives are willing to mesh in place for that possibility.

Proposal Day is your second chance to think about marriage after the more famous Valentine’s Day, the well-known day for lovers, and gives you an excuse to head on over to the diamond store to get that beautiful ring.

How to Celebrate Proposal Day

Celebrate Proposal Day by taking that big jump into life by proposing. Find the courage and confidence to get down on that knee, or make time to set up that big moment for the ones you love.

If you find that your proposal doesn’t work out, then take the time to heal, and understand that life can go forward. Approach Proposal Day in a different life by thinking about whether or not you want to make the big jump that can change your life.

If you’ve been with your lovers for a long time, then talk with them about whether or not a long term decision is right for you.

Share this holiday on social media using the hashtag #proposalday and let your friends and family know about this second chance at marriage.
